Lake Lanier Jr. Classic brings HJGT back to Atlanta area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will be returning to Georgia on June 21-22, 2010 with the Lake Lanier Jr. Classic in Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia.  The Lake Lanier Jr. Classic will be held at the Legacy on Lanier Golf Club.  Lake Lanier Islands is located just outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  Juniors will compete over 36-holes of stroke play in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-19, Boys 13-15, Boys 10-12, Girls 15-19, or Girls 10-14.  This event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS) and the South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points (SCJGA).

The Legacy on Lanier Golf Club represents a return to the Golden Era of Golf.  Created by renowned designer Billy Fuller, Legacy on Lanier Golf Club offers stunning views of Georgia’s Great Lake and is an unrivaled golf experience.  The layout traverses a natural setting with twelve scenic holes on the water and offers tactical challenges for the avid golfer while not proving too daunting for the casual golfer.  Legacy on Lanier Golf Club is certainly a challenging and pleasing lakeside experience.

Castro places second on Nationwide Tour Ex-Tech star within range of PGA Tour card

Seven Georgia Golfer Qualify for U.S. Mid-Amateur

Three players tied for medalist honors at 3-under-par 69, including two Georgians – Richie Taylor of Snellville and reigning GSGA Player of the Year David Noll Jr. of Dalton. They were joined by Herbie Sargent of Pelzer, S.C.

Bill Hodges of Thomasville, Ga., was the lone player at 70 to also qualify. Behind him were five players tied at 71 for the four remaining qualifying spots. Chris Hall of Kennesaw, Ga., and Kris Mikkelsen of Atlanta, Ga.
