Patrick Garrett of Powder Springs won the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Capitol Hill course in Prattville, Ala., the final tournament on the 2008-09 schedule.
Garrett closed with a 66 for a 210 total for 54 holes, eight strokes ahead of Landry Haynes of Gainesville in the boys 16-19 division. Tyler Smith of Peachtree City was third at 221.
Zach Jaworski of Alpharetta won the 14-15 division by eight strokes at 218, with Parker Derby coming from four behind after 36 holes to win the 12-13 age group with a 223 total.
Carrie Metz of Carnesville was the girls 15-19 winner by 10 strokes, shooting 218 over 54 holes. Elizabeth Kim of Norcross was second the 12-14 division.
In the opening event on the 2009-10 schedule, Metz again was an easy winner, finishing 10 strokes head of the field at Doublegate CC in Albany. Metz shot 75-74—149, with Hannah Duffie of Dalton second at 159. Michaela Owen of Alpharetta was the 12-14 girls winner at 157, with Haley Austin of McDonough second at 166.
Jonathan Klotz of Columbus shot 72-73—145 to win the boys 16-18 title by one stroke over Jimmy Beck, with Sepp Straka of Valdosta third at 147. Jacob Joiner of Albany was the 12-13 winner with a 149 total, four ahead of Tyler Dallas of Valdosta.
In an SJGT tournament in Montgomery, Caitlin Watts of LaGrange won girls 15-19 by three, shooting 79-73—152. Joe Philaphet of Riverdale shot 74-70—144 to win the boys 12-13 age group by eight strokes, with Jason Mendel of Norcross tying for second in the 14-15 division, two strokes behind the winner.
